Morumbi

Sao Paulo is the biggest city in Brazil, and the biggest financial, cooperative and mercantile city in South America, but it isn’t the Brazillian capital (The capital is Brasilia).
The city was founded in the year 1554, and today there are 11.150.290 people living in Sao Paulo. Sao Paulo represents 12% of the Brazilian population.
As a big metropolitan area Sao Paulo suffers from problems such as gig traffic jams, but it is the city with the most helicopter traffic in the world.
About 70% of Sao Paulo people are Roman Catholic.
Sao Paulo is divided into 31 subprefectures, and it was divided according to cultural history and its large avenues.
In the western area of Sao Paulo in the Morumbi stadium there is hope that the opening of the 2014 Soccer World Cup will be celebrated there.

Things to do & places to visit

In Sao Paulo, There are a lot of places to visit.
If you want to relax inside the city, the biggest park in Sao Paulo Is called Ibirapuera Park. The park was founded in celebration of the 400th anniversary of Sao Paulo in 1954.
Ibirapuera park is an area that has 1584km2 of green space and there is a artificial lake that is 15,7 km2 in size.
If you like arts, this is your place: There are more than 35 big museums in Sao Paulo. One of the most important museums is MASP (Sao Paulo Art Museum) located on Paulista avenue. There are also the MAM (Museum Of Art Modern) in Ibirapuera Park and The Ipirangas museum in Sao Paulo’s central area.

It goes down to 10℃ in winter and over 30℃ in the summer. In Sao Paulo it never snows. There are cases of natural disasters such as cyclones and tornados but it’s VERY rare that it happens. It’s a good place to live except for the risk of assaults.

Brazilian people are very happy and warm, it’s difficult to be alone in Sao Paulo because every body is very friendly. Many foreign people go to Sao Paulo only to watch the carnival, or a soccer game. (Sao Paulo has strong soccer teams). But soccer isn’t really the most important feature thatn describes Sao Paulo.
Sao Paulo is a multicultural city, and although the furthest city from japan, there is the biggest Japanese community outside japan, but the italian comunnity is the biggest in Sao Paulo. German and Chinese community is big in Sao Paulo too.
Sao Paulo is the biggest financial area in the South america that’s why there are a lot of companies, but there are a lot of kind of entertainment areas.

Famous people



If you say Brazil you will probably think of Soccer, in Sao Paulo there are many soccer teams like Sao Paulo, Palmeiras, Corinthians, Portuguesa etc. a lot of famous soccer players came from Sao Paulo, for example Kaka, Ronaldo, Robinho, Tulio and others
Great Formula1 pilot s, like Ayrton Senna, Rubinho Barrichelo and Felipe Massa are from Sao Paulo too. as well as Emerson Fittipaldi ( Formula Indy)
TRegarding music, I think the most famous artists are a melodic metal band called Angra. MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), Bossa Nova, Samba, are not well known performers from Sao Paulo.

Events or festivals

Sao Paulo hosts many events every year. For example “Anime Friends”, is an annual anime convention held in Sao Paulo, Brazil during the month of July. Japanese anime culture is enjoyed by many people at the opposite end of the earth from Japan. it is also the biggest anime center in latin america. In this event we can find a lot of otakus, (geeks) and weird people like those in Akihabara. There is also a cosplay championship, anime song bands, and a lot of entertainment. It happens every year in July.
The Sao Silvestre Race, is the most important road race in Sao Paulo. It’s only 15km, (It’s not as long as a marathon), but it’s very popular with the people! It happens every year on December, 31st, on Paulista avenue.
Sao Paulo Fashion Week, the most important fashion event in Latin America, has models such as Gisele Bundchen, Isabeli Fontana, Ana Claudia Michels, stilists, fashion companies like Chanel and Versace participates in this event.
Gay Parade, There is a fun event like others around the world.
Carnival, Sao Paulo’s carnaval is pretty famous too. It’s in February or March, it’s a pariod of a lot of parties, nobody works, and everybody is free to party. And an amazing parade happens in a place named Anhembi “Sambodromo”.

Nightlife & entertainment

There are entertainment and shopping for any kind of person and style.
Sao Paulo is a big city and has a 24hour nightlife . We can easely find 24 hours bars, cafes, clubs and discos, entertainment ans shopping for any kinds of people and style.
In Sao Paulo there are a lot of groups of people, that’s why there are many kinds of discos: discos where only japanese, or descendents of japanese can enter, and damn“gaijin”people are not welcome. There is discos for black peoples where white peoples is not welcome too. There is a famous avenue named Augusta Avenue, famous place because at night there is a gay place. In the center there is places only dedicated for peoples who likes hip-hop, or rock music too, it’s pretty fun. Brazilian people is very warm people that’s why it’s very easy to make friends in anywhere.
